Managing Emerging Contaminants for healthy soils: Are we ready?!

We are excited to announce the Call for Abstracts for the upcoming 6th ENSOr Conference , which will center around the evolving issue of emerging contaminants in soil and groundwater. The conference will explore three core dimensions: our current understanding, the measures being implemented, and the challenges we anticipate in the years ahead.

We welcome contributions from scientists, problem owners, engineers, risk assessors, regulators, consultants, and other stakeholders working on this critical topic. The goal is to share knowledge, foster dialogue, and explore innovative approaches to tackle existing and future environmental threats posed by emerging contaminants. What progress has been made in solving the PFAS issue? Where do we stand in dealing with pesticides, microplastics, ...?

Join us at the Ensor Conference as we reflect on where we stand, take stock of what is being done, and prepare for the future of environmental stewardship in the face of emerging contaminants.

Key topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Current research on the occurrence, fate, and transport of emerging contaminants
  • Futureproof developments in monitoring and detection technologies
  • Remediation and mitigation strategies and future expectations
  • Regulatory perspectives and policy developments for future challenges
  • Risk assessment and public health implications
  • Societal and economic dimensions and expected evolutions
  • Future outlook: knowledge gaps and research needs

Abstracts may be submitted for the following formats:

  1. Oral Presentation
Present your research, case study, or policy insight in a 15-minute presentation followed by Q&A. Clearly indicate in your abstract whether your presentation will give an outlook on current experiences/insightsor insightsor has a focus on tackling futureexpected issues or e.g.thedevelopment of innovative solutions.

  2. Workshop
Facilitate a 90-minute interactive session designed to engage participants through hands-on activities, group discussions, or collaborative exploration of real-world experiences and challenges. The workshop content should start from current situations and through discussion focus on recommendations or developments for future challenges. The aim is to obtain insight into the discussed topic based on the current situation, expected evolution and future challenges. The outcome of the workshops will be presented in a summary session the final day of the conference.

  3. Pitch
Share a concise 4-minute pitch highlighting a new idea, early-stage project, innovative solution, (new) remediation technique, or provocative question for the community.

Submit your abstracts before July 20th 2025
